HERide Is The First Black-Owned Rideshare Company To Secure A Contract With Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport

Co-founders Jillian Anderson and DeVynne Starks are breaking ground in one of the nation’s busiest airports. How Alicia Keys Proved 'A Woman's Worth' Of $150M Across The Music Industry And Beyond

Born Alicia Augello Cook in Manhattan, NY, Alicia Keys was raised by a single mother in the Hell’s Kitchen district of New York City. Yet, despite these inauspicious beginnings, she became one of the best-known — and best-selling — R&B artists of all time. And that career kicked off when a friend of the family gifted the young Alicia a piano. And she credits this auspicious gift with changing the trajectory of her life. “That’s why I wonder why one of my simple, silly misjudgments didn’t turn my life upside down,” she told Oprah in an exclusive interview back in 2004. “It’s like, ‘Oops’ — and your reality is completely different. I was blessed and, in a way, chosen to experience more of the world.” And, she said, her musical style evolved through the years, too. “I decided to discover the kinds of classical music that did move me—like Chopin, Satie, Beethoven, and certain Mozart songs. Mozart would play a counterpart with his left hand while using his right to mock it. It was blue,...

How Much DaBaby May Have Lost After Being Dropped By Festivals

DaBaby’s recent remarks came with a heavy price! The rapper, born Jonathan Lyndale Kirk, has been under fire since his insensitive remarks about HIV/AIDS during his set at Miami’s Rolling Loud festival. According to Variety, the remarks were followed by disdain from the LGBTQ+ community, and fans of DaBaby began to accuse the rapper of being homophobic. Rather than an apology, the “Bop” emcee took to his social media to double down on his statements which not only further enraged fans but were just as homophobic as his remarks made during Rolling Loud. After further digging his own grave, DaBaby was met with cancelations of festivals one by one beginning with Lollapalooza — a festival he was set to headline. “Lollapalooza was founded on diversity, inclusivity, respect, and love,” read the announcement. “With that in mind, DaBaby will no longer be performing at Grant Park tonight.” He was replaced with Young Thug, who was scheduled to perform during an earlier slot. The Chicago-based...
