Bun B’s Trill Burgers has been wrapped in a legal feud. In 2021, Bun B, also known as Bernard Freeman, unveiled the concept of Trill Burgers restaurant, as previously shared by AFROTECH™. Later i n June 2023, the rap legend and businessman opened his first brick-and-mortar location in Houston, TX, his hometown. The success kicked into high gear as the restaurant reportedly sold more than 53,000 smash burgers within 30 days of its opening. Now, the Houston Chronicle reports that Bun B is suing former employees Patsy and Benson Vivares for fraud. The lawsuit, filed in August 2023, claims that the Vivares siblings used $45,000 in earnings from the 2022 Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo to support their own restaurant, Sticky’s Chicken, which is no longer in operation. The outlet details that Patsy and Benson were fired in July 2022 following the alleged misconduct as well as further misuse of Trill Burgers’ funds. Southern rapper Bun B now has bragging rights that extend even beyond the music industry. As AfroTech previously told you in July 2021, Bun B ventured into the restaurant business to open Trill Burgers, a pop-up hamburger shop in his home city of Houston, TX. Now, it’s been named the best burger in America. The restaurant’s OG Trill Burger caught the attention of the judges on Good Morning America’s “United States of Burgers” competition. The staple menu item is made from 44 Farms beef, Trill Sauce, pickles, caramelized onions, and a Martin’s potato bun.

Bun B is headed into the restaurant business! Chron reports that the Houston rapper will open his very own restaurant i n his home city. It’s only right that Trill Burgers is the name of the latest venture for the rapper whose known to the world as “Trill OG.” Born Bernard James Freeman, Bun B is known as one half of the iconic southern rap duo, UnderGround Kingz (UGK), formed alongside the late Pimp C in 1987. The rapper has always been one to make smash hits and now his restaurant will specialize in smashburgers specifically with burgers that have super-thin, crispy-edged patties. While further details on what an official menu will look like for the restaurant, customers can also expect an Oklahoma-style burger that comes with onions fried directly into the burger patty. Initially, Bun B will partner with Afters Ice Cream’s Andy Nguyen and Sticky’s Chicken owners Benson and Patsy Vivares to bring Trill Burgers on the scene.
