Nick Cannon has come a long way from being a child star. The actor-turned-rapper-turned-mogul — who got his start on the hit Nickelodeon show “All That” (a show which also first graced us with the talents of Kel Mitchell and Kenan Thompson) — has certainly made a name for himself in the entertainment industry. Recently, AfroTech reported that he opened up a Wild N’Out-themed sports bar in San Diego, CA. He also recently wiped out the student debts of HBCU students , completed Nipsey Hussle’s Dr. Sebi documentary, and even went back to school to earn his degree after he became famous. But, as he recently told AfroTech, it’s all just a part of a hard day’s work. “When I was in high school, I was looking up to guys like Diddy who could diversify and market himself. We see what he’s done and the opportunities he’s created and made for so many of us. Every time I looked up, as much as I knew I wanted to entertain, I was always wanting to be a guy that was kinda moving the pieces behind...

Nick Cannon is being very transparent about his past relationship with money early on in his career. The entertainer recently detailed how he blew straight through a hefty check he once received as a gift from Will Smith. He explained how he went broke even after the veteran actor blessed him with a check in the amount of $200,000 and financial advice. “Will found me at like 17, and by the time I was 18, the check came in, and at the time, I remember Will had a red Range Rover. And I was like ‘I want a black one,’” Cannon recalled during an appearance on Angela Yee’s “Money Pie” series. “And he’s the biggest movie star in the world, and this is ’98, end of ’98.”

As AfroTech just told you, the television personality and entrepreneur announced his new business venture for the “billion-dollar” Wild ‘N Out franchise, a new sports bar in his hometown of San Diego, CA. “I am opening up a Wild ‘N Out Sports Bar, it would be our second one. Space is for everyone and this artist is here to prove it! Movies can be instrumental in planting seeds that will eventually lead to purpose. This was the case for emerging artist and author Jesse Forte (Jforte), who became fascinated by Buzz Lightyear’s character from “Toy Story.” With a nudge from a fifth-grade teacher, Forte believed he could reach “Infinity and Beyond!” Decades later, the multi-talented creative finally secured his big start in July 2021. After applying to various analog astronaut missions around the world, Jforte became a part of the Lunares Research team in Poland in 2021. Now, Jforte is preparing for his second analog training and hopes to be amongst the stars within the next 18 to 20 months. “Letting the young kids from around the world — especially little Black girls and boys that look like me — see that it’s possible for a brother with melanin dripping from his veins with dreads and gold chains to go to space. I want them to say ‘If he can do it, I can...

When Megan Thee Stallion announced she was going back to school, fans of the Hip-Hop superstar were shocked at the announcement. After all, what would be the need for her to go back to school when her career on the charts was in full swing? But, as AfroTech previously reported, that’s exactly what she’s doing. She’s attending Texas Southern University as of this writing and plans to finish her degree in healthcare administration. Additionally, she’s making it easier for other Black women to go to school to pursue their dreams: in addition to making a huge donation toward a full-tuition, four-year scholarship to attend the Roc Nation School of Music, Sports, and Entertainment at Long Island University (LIU), she’s opening up her own healthcare facility for recent graduates to work at, as well. “Come and get your experience over here,” Megan told Glamour. “Generations taking care of generations, making people feel like they are still at home, still with their families.” But Megan Thee...

Nick Cannon surprised seven college students attending Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) by agreeing to wipe out their student debt on “The Nick Cannon Show.” The television personality — who recently graduated from Howard University in 2020 — shared the brightest minds attend HBCUs, but crippling student debt can be a jarring obstacle students face upon their graduation. “I am so proud to be a part of an incredible legacy of HBCU graduates. Historically Black Colleges and Universities have played a pivotal role in developing some of the brightest minds and influencers of our time but the next generation of college students are concerned that the price of their education may be a little too high,” Cannon revealed in the opening segment. Seven HBCU students had the opportunity to share their testimonials which compelled them to attend an HBCU. Homelessness, toxic home environments and more were cited as personal struggles serving as the stepping stone for their...

And, he views his big family – a family which consists of six children – as his reward for all his hard work. “I come from a big family, I have several siblings, being raised in an unorthodox family by my grandparents at times, I’ve experienced such a wide range of upbringing that I have such a love and passion for kids and family. I want a big family too,” he said to The New York Daily News. “The Lord has blessed me with what I asked.” From his start as a child actor to his current role as a host and entrepreneur, Nick Cannon has made sacrifices from a very young age.
