The city of Sacramento, CA, officially has its first Black-woman-owned cannabis dispensary.
According to ABC 10, Maisha Bahati opened the doors to her latest business endeavor and the move has solidified her spot in history within the city.
“We are the first Black woman-owned cannabis dispensary in Sacramento,” Bahati told the outlet. “We are also a locally owned and social equity dispensary in Sacramento through the cannabis, opportunity, reinvestment, and equity program.”

What’s more, Crystal Nugs first started as a delivery service in 2019, but Bahati has always dreamt of taking things to the next level for her community.
“Part of my excitement and adrenaline in this industry is that there are not a lot of Black-owned businesses here in the cannabis industry,” Bahati told KCRA 3 in April 2023 of her plans to open a storefront.
Fast-forward, Bahati is following through with her aspirations, not only celebrating the grand opening of her brick-and-mortar dispensary but also the launch of her clothing line, Boujie Stoner Boutique, is available for customers to shop from while they get their cannabis goodies.
No stranger to utilizing the resources available to her, as a recipient of the aforementioned CORE program, the Sacramento Chamber of Commerce CEO and president applauded Bahati for leaning into the support of her community.
“I’m really proud of the relationship that Maisha has with the Sacramento Black Chamber of Commerce and I want other small businesses and businesses that are just beginning their journey to understand what we can do to help them,” said Azizza Davis Goines who also serves as the executive director of the organization.
The Crystal Nugs dispensary is located at 2300 J Street and is officially open for business between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m.
