Tyler, the Creator is a part of a handful of artists who have stayed true to themselves during their entire careers.
And, while reaching for stardom is a quest for many in the industry, the eclectic rapper’s rise to fame is one that came organically. His loyal fanbase has kept him thriving as he has two platinum albums and two Grammys, just to name a few achievements to his name.
Tyler, the Creator Fires Back At Haters
The 31-year-old’s win for Best Rap Album for “IGOR” in 2019 raised some shade from DJ Khaled, which he alluded to in his acceptance speech for his 2022 win for “Call Me If You Get Lost.”
“Thank you to everyone who was angry that I took it home last year so I reversed and picked it up again,” Tyler said, per Rap-Up. “And I know you’re seething and angry and [saying] ‘No one listens to that album,’ these arena tours that are selling out says different.”
He added: “Thank you to these blessings that keep happening where I could just make an album where I just flex all goddamn day. If you put that much energy into something, maybe everyone will be proud of you too.”
Record-Breaking Tour
Tyler’s flex at the time was warranted as the tour has recently gone on to be record-breaking, according to HipHopDX.
Having reportedly pulled in $32.6 million for his Call Me If You Get Lost Tour, Tyler is also said to currently lead with “the highest-grossing Hip Hop tour of the post-pandemic era.” The news placed him higher than J.Cole’s The Off-Season Tour and B2K’s Millennium Tour 2021.
With the tour’s supporting artists Vince Staples, Kali Uchis, and Teezo Touchdown traveling on the road with him, Tyler made 32 stops around the U.S. — accumulating a total of 389,000 tickets. His fans showed up and showed out the most for his hometown welcome on March 31 in Los Angeles at the Crypto.com Arena with $1.6 million from 14,757 ticket sales. He beat out his IGOR Tour record with an average of $1.02 million and 12,155 tickets a show, the outlet breaks down.
