A serial entrepreneur has shared a story revolving around the early beginnings of 50 Cent building his business acumen.
In an Instagram post, Jesse Itzler shared that the rapper and businessman was once an intern for him. According to Itzler’s website, he has built and sold Marquis Jet, Zico Coconut Water, 29029 Everesting, and more. He is also part owner of the NBA’s Atlanta Hawks.
“I have this kid who’s a boxer who wants to be a rapper and he wants to get some business experience,” Itzler said via Instagram, when recalling supporting 50 Cent. “So we made a deal that he would intern for me for whatever experience I could give him. And in exchange, he would help me write these jingles that I was doing at the time.”
Around 10 years after having 50 Cent as his intern, Itzler detailed that the two came crossed paths with one another once again when he flew with his company, Marquis Jet.
“I had the pilot write a note saying, ‘50, you’re never gonna believe this. This is Jesse from the jingle company and you’re on one of my airplanes,’” Itzler also said in the post. “And the next day, he wrote into all of his contracts that he would only fly with Marquis Jet. That is a lesson on loyalty. And you never know who the next 50 Cent’s gonna be.”
Following the social media post, 50 Cent confirmed on his own page that the story is true.

“Those were incredible years,” Itzler wrote in the comment section about them formerly working together. “Loved watching your whole journey. Thanks so much for sharing this.”
He continued, “Part 2 of this was when I bumped into you 20 years later in the airport and I was like ‘no way he remembers me’ and you bear hugged me right away.”
Based on 50 Cent’s Instagram post, it looks like he’s potentially interested in further catching up with Itzler personally and for business.
“This is 100 percent true Jessie is my guy, I think he owns the Atlanta Hawks now I gotta catch up with him,” 50 Cent said in an Instagram caption.
