Could the beef between Jay-Z and Damon Dash soon be ending?

The clash first began after Jay-Z sued Dash for allegedly attempting to sell his debut album “Reasonable Doubt” as a non-fungible token (NFT) without his permission, as previously shared by AfroTech. His attorneys described the matter as “brazen theft” due to him not having the “right to sell the copyright or any individual ownership interests in ‘Reasonable Doubt.’”

Although the lawsuit had been filed, Dash was adamant about continuing with the NFT auction. In addition, his lawyer countersued Jay-Z against what he believed to be false claims and for reportedly changing all the streaming rights for “Reasonable Doubt” “without authorization or agreement” from all Roc-A-Fella Inc. partners.

“The misinformation was put out there from me selling my third of the company. It wasn’t misconceived. It was a lie,” Dash shared with Variety. “Jay doesn’t have the authority to move for Roc-A-Fella. He gets all his lawyers, and they make a case for Roc-A-Fella against me. I’m still the CEO and director of Roc-A-Fella. So, that’s questionable. Why are you pretending you’re the boss, when I’m the boss?”

Reports

REVOLT previously reported, in a post that’s now been removed, that court documents filed by Alex Spiro — Jay-Z’s lawyer — revealed that both parties are “in the process of meeting and conferring to determine whether they can reach a settlement agreement that would resolve this case.”

The outlet stated that Spiro requested an extension from the judge to allow settlement talks until April 1.

However, Dash claims that’s not the case.

Damon Dash's Response

“Please don’t believe this hype we are no where near a settlement.. they accused me of doing something i did not do and now they have to prove it,” Dash said via Instagram.

He continued: “…and i can sell my share anytime I want #askthejudge and #jayz and @biggsburke if you wanna settle this holla at me…we use to hustle together…court is corny…let’s talk like men for the culture… I dare y’all to respond #doitfortheculture.”

Jay-Z, Spiro, or anyone else from his team has not yet made a statement in response to any of the recent reports or claims.
