GloRilla once admitted that she plans to become a billionaire and continues to progress towards this milestone.
The Memphis-born rapper has remained the talk of the town, lighting up the charts through hit singles that include “TGIF” and “WHATCHU KNO ABOUT ME” and what started it all, “F.N.F.” released in 2022.
“It mean a lot to be able to be a a voice for my city,” she said during an interview with AFROTECH™.
Before the artist’s journey kicked into gear, she worked overtime to make her dreams a reality. Working at jobs such as Nike and FedEx with little to no energy, she remained optimistic the grind would pay off, and it has.
“I was doing 12 hours at Nike and maybe seven to eight hours at FedEx. And I was just doing all that to sponsor my rapid career so I could be able to pay for videos and studio time,” she explained.
In 2022, GloRilla signed to Yo Gotti’s label Collective Music Group. He has remained a constant supporter in her journey as an artist and in business. As AFROTECH™ previously told you, Yo Gotti had encouraged the rapper to hire accountants.
“Yo Gotti, he give me a lot of pointers on everything when it comes to music and paper for show. We talk a lot about investments and saving the money and then the money make itself again. He give me a lot of good financial advice as well as musical advice too. I bump my head sometimes, and he always just helps me get back on the right path,” she said of her dynamic with Yo Gotti.
With the goal of becoming a billionaire, she shared in a 2022 interview that she is actively working on various business ventures while investing in real estate. Most recently, she purchased a commercial property in her hometown. “I’m buying property. I got a few things I wanna do with them,” she said.
Honda Battle Of The Bands
As for what’s ahead, GloRilla will soon take center stage on Feb. 1, 2025, at the Honda Battle of the Bands (HBOB), branded as the “nation’s premier showcase for Historically Black College and University (HBCU) marching bands.” The event, now in its 19th year, will be hosted at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, CA.
“I’ve been doing HBCU since I blew up and stuff, and I always wanted to go to one. I just never end up going. But the fact that I get to go and perform, I love the fact that I could at least be around since I wasn’t able to attend one,” she expressed.
Nick Cannon will also serve as a host at the HBOB Invitational Showcase. The featured HBCU bands are as follows:
- Marching Maroon & White (Alabama A&M University)
- Mighty Marching Hornets (Alabama State University)
- The Marching Force (Hampton University)
- Blue and Gold Marching Machine (North Carolina A&T State University)
- Human Jukebox (Southern University)
- Marching Musical Machine of the Mid-South (University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff)
