Cedric the Entertainer and Anthony Anderson are taking a step out of the acting world and into the food industry.
Variety reports that the actors and comedians are set to launch AC Barbeque, their own barbecue brand.
Prior to the launch, Cedric and Anderson cultivated a friendship, as well as worked together on projects such as “Barbershop.” Along with acting, the two share a passion for barbeque, which transformed into partnering for their brand.
“Anthony and I are very excited to take our audience into the savory, smokehouse-filled, finger licking world of barbeque all across the United States,” Cedric said in a statement, according to the outlet.
“The launch of AC Barbeque has been a lifelong dream for Cedric and I and we cannot wait to learn more about the craft and share our journey,” Anderson added.
As the business duo embarks on launching AC Barbeque, their journey will be televised on the A&E Network series “Kings of BBQ.”
Produced by Propagate, Bird Bear, and Just a Kid From Compton, the 10-episode series follows Cedric and Anderson, who connect with barbeque chefs, pitmasters, and experts to hone their craft of grilling. What’s more, “Kings of BBQ” aims to put viewers on to Black people who are excelling in the industry.
“From backyards to BBQ pits, the duo will go behind the scenes to master barbeque in all its glory and create a business of their own that honors its legacy and flavors. Along the way, celebrity friends and family will join in on the fun and help share how different cultures and experiences have influenced the delicious cooking technique,” the logline describes.
The outlet notes that “Kings of BBQ” is still being developed under that working title.
Along with being behind their brand, Cedric and Anderson are executive producers for the upcoming A&E series.
