The Christopher Wallace Estate, OneOf Launch NFT Collection That Allows Fans To License A Freestyle From Biggie

According to a press release, the Quincy-backed platform will host a generative profile picture (PFP) non-fungible token (NFT) collection paying homage to the rapper’s influence and cultural significance that still reigns today. The Sky’s the Limit: The Notorious B.I.G. NFT Collection will provide collectors with 3D NFT characters upholding the essence of his “life, style, and lyrics.”

“We named this collection ‘Sky’s The Limit’ because we believe this is a watershed moment in NFTs where seminal artists like Biggie and their truest fans can drive culture and drive value together,” said Joshua James, OneOf Co-Founder & COO, in a statement. “We’re thrilled to work with The Christopher Wallace Estate to honor Biggie’s enduring legacy, in web3 and beyond, and we have some amazing surprises for NFT holders along the way.”

What’s more, NFT holders will obtain the right to license the audio of a freestyle from a 17-year-old Biggie. The freestyle has never been released officially or sampled by previous artists. Now with the green light from the collective and estate, holders can include the freestyle in their recordings and share it with their audiences on streaming platforms. The song will also include “featuring The Notorious B.I.G.” in the song title on streaming platforms.

“Biggie’s music is a very important part of hiphop culture and it’s global impact,” said Wayne Barrow, Manager of Voletta Wallace and BIGGIE’s estate, according to a press release. “Our business partner, Elliot Osagie of Willingie Inc, came up with the concept of coming together with OneOf to share the infamous freestyle that showcased to the world the icon that Biggie would soon become through an NFT, and sharing it with his fans in this way we are certain would make him proud.”

Fans can register for the collection’s allow list ahead of the launch on July 26.

In addition, they can look also forward to a lifestyle, fashion, culture, music, and entertainment metaverse experience titled “The Brook,” launching at an undisclosed date in conjunction with Biggie’s avatar as a character.
