The Verzuz brand is strong and it’s growing even larger with its latest collaboration with online fitness platform Peloton.

According to an exclusive from Variety, Verzuz’s musical streaming series and Peloton’s digital at-home workouts have formed the perfect partnership to bring together music and fitness through music-themed classes inspired by Verzuz-style playlists.

Rolling Stone reports that “Peloton Verzuz” is an extension of Peloton’s Artist Series — a collection of themed workouts set to a specific artist’s catalog or new album. An early drafted press release shared with the outlet noted that the new partnership marks a celebration of “the iconic music of two legendary artists, in one friendly competition, across multiple disciplines.”

Now, Peloton users will be able to enjoy their favorite artists’ music as it goes head-to-head in a song match-up that creates the ultimate musical fitness experience.

According to an announcement from Peloton, the partnership is described as something unlike what the platform has ever explored before.

“Just like how music brings us together across genres and generations, we’re uniting the Verzuz and Peloton experiences into an unmissable series of classes throughout our year-long partnership,” Peloton shared in a blog post. “Alongside Swizz Beatz and Timbaland themselves, get ready to sweat to the tune of head-to-head musical celebrations featuring iconic past Verzuz match-ups—all from your Peloton App, Bike or Tread.”

In speaking with Variety, Timbaland shared that “Music is the one thing to me that drives a workout. The right song can make you go harder, the wrong song will make you not want to do it.”

Swizz Beatz echoed his thoughts emphasizing the importance of having a community factor within both platforms, which made this an ideal meeting of the minds.

“I think the community is important in Verzuz, the community is important in Peloton because that’s the motivation,” he says. “The motivation is the community.”

Peloton’s Head of Music Gwen Bethel Riley shared with Variety that she believes this partnership between the two digital platforms is a great way to mesh their core principles together for a new and unique experience for users all around.

“Both Peloton and Verzuz are rooted in engaged communities who show up for each other and celebrate together. Taking the musical phenomena that is Verzuz and eventizing it, in a way that is unique to Peloton, will provide our members with a way to access incredible artists and their legendary catalogs across multiple disciplines.”

As reported by Variety, the new series kicked off yesterday with the first set of Peloton Verzuz classes featuring Brandy vs. Monica to help close out Women’s History Month.

Peloton’s new features embodies the competition-friendly Verzuz spirit by allowing members to use the Tag function during classes where they choose whether or not they’d like to be on team #VerzuzBrandy or #VerzuzMonica.

The next matchup will be Swizz Beatz vs. Timbaland though exact dates have yet to be announced.
