The Weeknd’s chart-topping hit “Blinding Lights” shattered records spending 90 weeks on the Hot 100 Chart. The accomplishment earned the three-time Grammy winner the top spot on Billboard’s Greatest Songs of All Time Hot 100 Chart, surpassing Chubber Checker’s classic hit “The Twist.”
To celebrate, Autograph will be partnering with The Weeknd and Billboard to launch a limited edition NFT collection.
“This collaboration highlights a momentous achievement and a very special moment in time for one of the most influential artists today,” said Julian Holguin, President of Billboard, in a press release provided to AfroTech. “We’re thrilled to celebrate that moment and translate the most quoted rankings in music to innovative, new formats. The digital trading cards and NFTs launched in partnership with Autograph will truly capture the excitement that ‘Blinding Lights’ inspires and allow fans to own a defining moment in music history.”
As AfroTech previously told you, Autograph — the NFT platform owned by Tom Brady — has been busy establishing partnerships with some of the biggest names in sports and entertainment. The Weeknd will be joining the list of collaborations, as he will also join Autograph’s advisory board, which features big names such as Simone Biles, Naomi Osaka and Tiger Woods, among others. Fans can view and purchase the collection upon release on Autograph.io.
Until then, fans can still commemorate the Weeknd’s newest accomplishment with a special trading card pack collection that launched on Tuesday (Nov. 23) in partnership with Billboard and The Infinite, a music-focused company created by sports card developer, Karvin Cheung. The collection will feature five unique designs created by Cheung.
“Every card is a full bleed card design accentuated with 2 different foil colors on 120 pt paper stock. The entire set consists of 5 cards, a non-numbered card, a card foil numbered out of 500, a card foil numbered out of 100, a hand signed autograph card foil numbered out of 10 and a hand signed autograph card foil numbered 1 of 1. Each pack includes one random trading card from the collection and an information card breaking down the chart data,” the press release revealed.
