Shedeur Sanders follows in his father’s footsteps by signing a deal with Nike.

Deion Sanders, the head football coach at the University of Colorado, first signed to Nike in the 1990s and the partnership led to his own signature shoes, reports CBS Sports.

Deion would later part ways with the shoe retailer, cementing a long-term partnership with Under Armour. In 2023, he made a comeback to Nike, paving the way for a fresh collection of footwear, such as a new version of the “Varsity Maize” Nike Air DT Max ’96,  Complex mentions.

Deion’s legacy at Nike will now also include his son Shedeur, who has cemented a name, image, and likeness (NIL) deal. He becomes the first college football player to sign with Nike, according to Andscape.

Per On3, Shedeur current NIL valuation is said to be $4.7 million.

“Now it’s a family business,” a shared statement reads via Instagram.

“He ain’t got next he’s got NOW! @shedeursanders @2legendary @nike #Dad,” Deion also took to Instagram to congratulate his son publicly in a comment.

Shedeur has already hinted at what’s to come at Nike. He hopes to build on his father’s legacy of greatness with his signature cleats on the way.

“I would want to build on it,” the University of Colorado football player said on his podcast “2Legendary with Shedeur Sanders.” “Have a different version, concept because I feel like it’s more, like now, just looking at life and looking at everything, it’s more about like you know generational it’s more about what could be passed down year after year after year…rather than everybody starting up they whole new wave because there’s no real substance behind it. Everything that’s great has to have a story behind it. Every great players has to have a story behind it. So I feel like when it comes to design and anything like that like it always has to have a great story behind it.”
