It’s no secret that Ayesha Curry is multi-faceted. The Canada native has a series of entrepreneurial efforts, including restaurants and cookware, a subscription box, and real estate ventures.
In 2018, Ayesha Curry partnered with her sister-in-law Sydel Curry-Lee to launch their wine brand, Domaine Curry.
Based on reports, the celebrity-backed brand sold its wine to Constellation Brands for an undisclosed amount.
According to a press release, Constellation Brands bought Domaine Curry in a move expected to enhance and expand its footprint, sitting in its Prisoner Wine Company’s house of brands.
The acquisition is also expected to have Domaine Curry as a part of its Aspira Fine Wine & Craft Spirits portfolio, a specific wine unit dedicated to the curation of luxury wine and spirits.
Ayesha Curry announced the acquisition via Instagram, noting her excitement about the future.
“Domaine Curry is excited to officially be part of The Prisoner Wine Company family. Domaine Curry was created to honor and celebrate the strong women in our family, and we dedicate its future to fearless women from all walks of life,” Ayesha explained in the social media post. “We hope you’ll join us on this incredible journey and follow along @domainecurrywine for new vintages and releases coming soon.”
The company explained its excitement for the acquisition and the importance of partnering with a Black and woman-owned business.
“The acquisition of Domaine Curry, a female- and Black-founded wine brand with a successful track record for entrepreneurship, storytelling, and community, provides an opportunity for us to partner with Ayesha and Sydel to build a uniquely positioned luxury wine and culturally relevant lifestyle brand,” said Bukky Ekundayo, VP/GM, The Prisoner Wine Company. “Bringing them into The Prisoner Wine Company portfolio builds on our history of expanding the luxury wine landscape with inclusive and progressive brands, wines, and values.”
