Adidas has officially set plans in motion to get rid of some of its remaining YEEZY merchandise.

According to the German footwear giant, the company will begin to sell the remaining inventory of its YEEZY products starting at the end of May 2023.

Getting Rid Of The Remaining Merchandise

The upcoming release will be the first time that Adidas is offering the YEEZY products to consumers after its decision to part ways with the line’s creator, Kanye West, following his string of antisemitic remarks in October 2022.

The company will use the Adidas CONFIRMED app to carry out the sales.

Months after the call to sever ties, Adidas admits that the move is “hurting” its business, and as a result, North American sales were down 20%.

In a statement shared on May 19, the athletic-wear brand noted that the announcement to sell the remainder of the products has “no immediate impact on the company’s current financial guidance for 2023.”

The Final Decision

“After careful consideration, we have decided to begin releasing some of the remaining Adidas YEEZY products,” Adidas CEO Bjørn Gulden said in an official statement. “Selling and donating was the preferred option among all organizations and stakeholders we spoke to. We believe this is the best solution as it respects the created designs and produced shoes, it works for our people, resolves an inventory problem, and will have a positive impact in our communities. There is no place in sport or society for hate of any kind, and we remain committed to fighting against it.”

The products for donation will go to organizations fighting against discrimination and hate, including antisemitism and racism. Some of the groups shared in the news release include the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) and the Philonise & Keeta Floyd Institute for Social Change.

As previously reported by AfroTech, the YEEZY merchandise has been sitting in storage and was said to be worth an estimated $1.3 billion.
