Another day, another rap artist taps into Bitcoin.

On March 11, rap artist Lil Durk dropped his “7220” album which featured 17 tracks and features from heavy hitters including Gunna, Future, and Summer Walker. To coincide with the drop, Durk announced on Twitter he was giving away $7,220 in bitcoin.

“7220 the album at midnight. Drop your #cashapp and #lildurk and imma give away $7,220 in #Bitcoin,” Durk wrote on the app.

The Growing Trend Of Rappers And Crypto

Lil Durk’s not the first and we can guarantee he will not be the last in an attempt to put fans on to the Bitcoin wave.

As AfroTech previously told you, rapper Megan Thee Stallion surprised fans when she and Cash App gave away $1 million in Bitcoin. In addition, she even dropped a video that aimed to educate the hotties.

“It’s the new digital currency that’s been getting a lot of hype,” she once explained. “Bitcoin is a new kind of money. While the cash in your wallet is issued and regulated by governments, Bitcoin is a cryptocurrency. Like a wild stallion, it can’t be controlled by anyone.”

And, as AfroTech reported at the time, while Megan Thee Stallion and other rappers are taking a different approach to explain the ins and outs of both investing and Bitcoin, there may be more to it.

“Isaiah Jackson, the co-founder of KRBE Digital Assets Group and author of ‘Bitcoin & Black America,’ told CNBC that cryptocurrency is a way to fix economic injustice in a community that doesn’t often reap the rewards of the stock market. ‘For the first time in history, we have a Plan B option to the current financial system which has seen years of redlining, racial discrimination, and other egregious acts by retail banks to the Black community,’ he said.”
