Thanks to non-fungible tokens (NFTs), National Basketball Association (NBA) fans will soon have a thrilling opportunity to gain exclusive content surrounding high-profiled athletes Kobe Bryant, LeBron James and Shaquille O’Neal before they became household names.

Binance NFT Marketplace (Binance) will launch the “Before They Were Pros” NFT series, which will feature “a unique ‘time capsule’ video and represents a flashback of these fantastic athletes during their high school days,” according to a press release. The launch is a part of a distinguished collection produced by Total Digital Group with licensing from MediaMineLLC set to debut on Sept. 28, 2021.

The unique collection will feature mini video clips of the NBA athletes, exclusive interviews and video action content taken before their success. Each athlete will have a distinguished digital token and buyers will acquire the footage rights.

“Binance NFT Marketplace users can enjoy the unforgettable high school basketball moments of Kobe Bryant, LeBron James, Shaquille O’Neal,” Helen Hai, Head of Binance, said in a press statement. “It will be like owning a piece of basketball history for the NFT owners.”

The collection comes as no surprise because many fans are feigning to find ways to acquire assets that provide exclusive access to sports legends. As AfroTech previously reported, a Hublot watch designed and signed by Kobe Bryant is being featured in a digital auction created by WISE.Art’s NFT platform, projected to sell for $10 million. In addition, this past summer, before the release of the “Space Jam: A New Legacy” featuring LeBron James, Warner Bros. made history as the first movie franchise to incorporate NFTs as a marketing strategy. The studio presented 92,000 NFT collectibles for registered users who visited the film’s gallery.

As fans begin to place more value in digital items, NFTs will continue to succeed in the market. NFT’s not only provide fans with the legal rights of acquiring a highly sought-after item, but it is also a long-term investment.
