This week, The Black Eyed Peas member announced that he’s teaming up with nationwide tech company Honeywell to launch XUPERMASK — a $299 mask where style meets technology along with a plethora of high-tech features. Black Women on Boards (BWOB) is a new global organization that took notice of the significant gap of Black female executives that are missing from board positions and has taken action since then. Founded in 2020, the organization’s efforts have created more visibility for the underrepresented group — 16 Black women on private, public, and advisory board s to date . Now, to bring more Black women aboard and empower them in becoming today’s successful leaders, BWOB has announced a new cohort-based board accelerator program for its members with the support of founding partnerships with DCVC, Diligent, Felicis Ventures, Kleiner Perkins, and Sapphire Ventures, according to a press release. When first grader Mason Peoples went to take his school picture, a Dorian Studio photographer presented the six-year-old with a difficult question which turned into a hilarious exchange that went viral on his mother Nicole Tucker’s Facebook last week. Sporting his mask, the photographer requested for Mason to take off his mask for his shining moment. Musician and tech entrepreneur will.I.am is taking his love for robotics to the next level with his co-created robotics program. The Black Eyed Peas band member has a goal to ease the struggles of the next generation in terms of accessibility to educational resources. With that said, his i.am Angel Foundation is partnering with the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) to expand their robotics program to what could be 12,000 students throughout the entire district. According to an announcement from the Foundation, the LAUSD has witnessed the positive impact the organization has had on local neighborhood Boyle Heights for the past 11 years, serving close to 1,400 students in their STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math) education. American Airlines just appointed Adriane M. Brown to its board of directors! According to Yahoo! Finance, Brown will also serve on the company’s Audit and Corporate Governance and Public Responsibility committees. Nigerian startup Kobo360 is now expanding to three more African countries after raising $6 million in funding. The company will reach Ghana, Togo, and Cote D’Ivoire by 2019 to link freight truck drivers with businesses that need them. Kobo360 is also expanding to offer supply chain management tools, more programs and services for drivers. There will also be more warehousing capabilities and an increased presence in its home country. TLcom Capital and Y Combinator have contributed to Kobo360’s funding. The startup’s founder Obi Ozor told TechCrunch his plan to grow the company into a global logistics operating system. Kobo offers insurance on shipped goods and real-time status updates on deliveries.
