Have you ever been hanging out, and suddenly the dance floor got slightly “excited?” This likely could’ve happened when you heard the sounds of will.i.am and the Black Eyed Peas. From songs like “Let’s Get It Started” to “My Humps,” the eclectic group has music that helps define moments and keeps the party going. However, the group’s musical prowess is not by happenstance. Arguably, much of the group’s success can be credited to its leader. Born William James Adams, Jr., the Los Angeles, CA native, has early childhood roots in music stemming from his early beginnings in the Estrada Courts housing projects. During these early times, he found inspiration from legendary Hip-Hop acts like De La Soul and A Tribe Called Quest. In fact, the “I Like To Move It” rapper found so much inspiration from those groups that he doesn’t even have an answer for the age-old rap question: Biggie or Tupac? In a recent interview with Skillz on the Hip-Hop Confessions podcast, the Black Eyed Peas leader...
Superstar will.i.am and Mercedes-AMG corporation have prepared to take the innovation of vehicles — and students of disadvantaged communities — to the next level. During the Formula 1™ Grand Prix USA Weekend, the two have reimagined collaboration through “The Flip,” a revolutionary automotive structure. With the one-off vehicle — named WILL.I.AMG — Mercedes AMG and will.i.am are putting the visual behind pushing boundaries to drive new ideas forward. “I grew up in a ghetto. I grew up with hip hop. I watched legendary hip hop artist rap about Mercedes, so it was always a dream to own a Mercedes. For a lot of inner-city kids, owning a Mercedes is a symbol of progress and advancing out of struggle,” said will.i.am in an exclusive statement. “Now I’ve reached my goal and pushed even higher by re-imagining and creating my own vision of an AMG model. But I didn’t touch the engine, because AMG really does make the best engines. The story of the founders of AMG truly inspires me and it is...

With that said, his i.am Angel Foundation is partnering with the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) to expand their robotics program to what could be 12,000 students throughout the entire district. According to an announcement from the Foundation, the LAUSD has witnessed the positive impact the organization has had on local neighborhood Boyle Heights for the past 11 years, serving close to 1,400 students in their STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math) education. This summer, the two entities want to continue this community work and bring STEM skill sets to more than 400 new robotics clubs from middle and high schools and sign up as many students as possible for the FIRST Robotics program ahead...
Rapper will.i.am is taking up a new profession as a mask designer with the help of some high-end technology. This week, The Black Eyed Peas member announced that he’s teaming up with nationwide tech company Honeywell to launch XUPERMASK — a $299 mask where style meets technology along with a plethora of high-tech features. The XUPERMASK — designed with adjustable straps, silicon and athletic mesh fabric on the sides — fits snug like a regular face mask, but features dual three-speed fans and HEPA filters, Bluetooth connectivity, LED day glow lights, noise canceling audio, microphone capabilities, and a magnetic earbud docking system, according to CNN Business. The high-tech mask is a joint venture that was designed by will.i.am, Honeywell and Jose Fernandez — the designer behind Elon Musk’s SpaceX suits. Following the initial phases of surgical masks and fashion masks at the beginning of the pandemic, will.i.am now aims to introduce smart masks that could either be the future of...
