Producer-turned-entrepreneur Pharrell is in the news today because of his decision to open up private schools for low-income students. The Virginia native has frequently spoken up for those without a voice, and has given back to his community as well.
“If the system is fixed and unfair, then it needs to be broken,” he said about his recent investment. “We don’t want lockstep learning where so many kids fall behind; we want bespoke learning designed for each child, where the things that make a child different are the same things that will make a child rise up and take flight.”
With all of these investments and philanthropic efforts, we decided to pose the question: what is Pharrell’s net worth in 2021?
Pharrell Net Worth 2021
As of 2021, Pharrell has a net worth of $200 million.
Most of this money comes from his record sales.
In 2013 alone, he sold more than 30 million copies of his singles. 15 million copies were from the hit song “Blurred Lines,” another 7 million were from the blockbuster breakthrough “Happy,” and the rest from his single “Get Lucky.”
These numbers don’t take into account the earnings he’s made off of the “Despicable Me” franchise of films, which he exclusively composes the music for.
Other ways that Pharrell has made such an impressive salary include his movie participation. Recently, he narrated the most recent animated adaptation of “The Grinch” (with Benedict Cumberbatch as the title character). And while Pharrell didn’t disclose his salary, the film grossed more than a half-billion dollars worldwide, which meant that Virginia’s finest certainly took home a nice payday.
He also, most famously, has collaborations with other brands and musical artists that are worth more than $150 million. As one-half of the influential production group The Neptunes — and again as a solo collaborator and artist — he’s worked with the likes of Jay-Z, TI, and Snoop Dogg, which only brings his net worth up even more.
Finally, Pharrell has made his money outside of the music industry, as well. Inc. calls him a “one-man holding company” with his hands in everything from media to fashion to music. He has two signature clothing lines — Billionaire Boys Club and Ice Cream — which has more than $25 million in annual sales. He’s also one of the co-owners of G-Star Raw, and has partnered with fashion lines like Uniqlo, Moncler, and Louis Vuitton for his own unique lines.
And this doesn’t even take his partnerships with the likes of American Express into account.
All this, and more, makes Pharrell one of the richest artists in the United States today.
