Right on the heels of becoming a team owner in SimWin Sports, Edward Madongorere, CEO and co-founder of MOON Ultra, has announced yet another business move.
On Dec. 8, it was announced that MOON Ultra raised $15 million in a Series B funding round, according to a press release shared with AfroTech.
MOON Ultra's Star-Studded Investors
The round’s investors included Burna Boy and L.A. Reid. Along with the music entrepreneurs, there were sports and entertainment stars such as Emmanuel Acho and Sara “Lovestyle” Hood — who recently became owners of the Houston Hyenas with Madongorere — Ray Lewis, Baron Davis, Joe Willock, Lamorne Morris, Noah Beck, and more.
“Moon Ultra eliminates the worry of trying to find the right area or best lighting to take a photo. It’s so clear and direct, I find myself actually smiling brighter because it shows your best features. I am super excited for this partnership,” said Lewis, according to the press release.

As previously reported by AfroTech, MOON Ultra created a portable lighting device with intuitive touch controls that provide customizable brightness and tone. The intent of users being able to perfectly capture bright moments for their content was inspired by Madongorere’s autistic son.
The new funding “will enable further development of the company’s growing slate of products and distribution across the globe,” the press release discloses.
“It is our mission to collaborate with the best individuals across various industries to showcase the power of our illuminating products and services at the ease of your fingertips,” said Madongorere. “We are fortunate to have such an amazing group of sports and entertainment stars who understand the global need and desire to capture professional lit content on their own, without the need for a photographer or videographer. We’ve exceeded our expectations and are growing internationally through the support of a phenomenal team of investors.”
