Offset has allegedly filed a lawsuit to officially part ways with Quality Control (QC) following differences over his solo career, TMZ reports.
Although Offset — born Kiari Kendrell Cephus — and his fellow group members Quavo and Takeoff have managed to dodge rumors regarding the official disbanding of the beloved Migos rap group, he is getting vocal about his rights as an individual artist.
However, now he wants to part ways with the label that has been home to the Atlanta natives since the very beginning.
The Allegations
Per the suit, which TMZ reports was filed on Tuesday (Aug. 23), Offset claims that he negotiated a deal to go solo. In addition to that, the rapper shared that he “paid handsomely” for his rights as an artist. Now, however, the 30-year-old is accusing QC of not honoring the deal.

“I paid millions to get my rights back,” Offset said via Twitter.
He continued: “You black balled me … I ain’t spoke to you in 2 years now I drop and you want ya name on my credit?”
Furthermore, according to TMZ, he says that his recent “54321” solo single produced by Baby Keem, was incorrectly claimed as a product of QC. Offset referred to the action as “hostile.”
Offset's Solo Career
While Offset’s deal with QC — as it pertains to the Migos — still stands, he is demanding that the court declares that the label does not own anything that he has made as a solo artist since Jan. 15, 2021, or what is to come in the future as a standalone act.
While he does plan to release another track alongside fellow rapper Moneybagg Yo this Friday (Aug. 26), Offset plans to drop new music under his new label Motown Records. The renowned music company will reportedly be the home to the rapper as he embarks on his solo career.
Interestingly enough, in 2015, QC signed a joint venture with Capitol Music Group and Motown Records.
“Quality Control Music’s roster will be affiliated with Capitol Music Group or Motown Records team, with the decision being made on a case-by-case decision between the two companies. Universal Music Distribution or Capitol Music Group’s Caroline will handle the releases,” Complex reported at the time.
