How much would you be willing to spend to get your hands on a literal piece of Kobe Bryant’s history?
According to TMZ Sports, a jersey once worn by the late Lakers icon is set to go up for auction.
It could potentially sell for anywhere between $5 million and $7 million.
The Prized Possession
The item was worn during Bryant’s sole MVP season. It also features his hand-written signature.
The host of the upcoming auction, Sotheby’s, claims that the artifact is the “most valuable Kobe Bryant game-worn jersey to ever appear at auction.”
More Kobe Artifacts On The Market
Jerseys aren’t the only way that fans aim to hold on to Bryant’s legacy.
As previously reported by AfroTech, one bidder offered $800,000 for a literal piece of his final game floor.
A Piece Of History
During the 2007-08 season when he wore the jersey that’s up for auction, Bryant scored a total of 645 points.
He also led the Lakers to victory.
The Photo That Started It All
If wearing and signing the jersey wasn’t enough, there is also an “iconic” photograph that came from Bryant while sporting the threads.
“On April 23, 2008 in Game 2 of the Western Conference First Round against the Denver Nuggets, with 5 minutes and 22 seconds on the clock, Kobe sank a 3 pointer securing the Lakers a 14 point lead, their largest point differential thus far. The images taken following the shot, of Kobe screaming and pumping his chest in elation, have become perhaps the most iconic images of Kobe ever taken,” Sotheby’s said via its website.
