As hard as it is to believe, “Low” by Flo Rida is nearly 15-years-old. Released in 2007, the song was an international hit for the Florida-born rapper, and actually broke the record for digital sales at the time of its release.

Today, the man born Tramar Lacel Dillard may be best known for his more “family-friendly” version of pop-rap than something, say, that Nas or Tupac would release. But that doesn’t mean his moves haven’t paid off. In fact, according to Celebrity Net Worth, Flo Rida has a net worth of $30 million — more than most rappers of the early 21st century have, that’s for sure.

And the “Club Can’t Handle Me” rapper continues to make boss moves in 2021 and beyond. From investing in commercial real estate to endorsing energy drinks — and even performing at Eurovision! — Flo Rida continues to prove he’s still relevant, even if his songs aren’t as popular on American radio as it once was. Ultimately, it’s not about who’s the most popular — it’s about who’s the most paid, and the rapper is about much more than the “Mail on Sunday.”

So, let’s take a look at how Flo Rida spun his hit songs “Right Round” into investments that netted him $30 million.

Most of Flo Rida’s hit singles are international hits, though he has had some domestic hits. His record “Low” may be his best known American hit (it reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart), but he’s had other singles, such as “My House” and “Right Round.”

According to The Detroit News, Flo Rida has sold more than 80 million albums worldwide, making him one of the world’s best-selling rap artists.

Pimping His Ride — And Making It Worth Millions

According to Complex, in 2013, Flo Rida took his Bugatti Veyron to Metro Wrapz in Hollywood, FL, to get it wrapped in 24-carat gold. According to CheatSheet, this move made the car worth more than $2 million. Considering cars are a depreciating asset, this move was not a bad one at all.

This was a deal that should have gone well. According to The Miami New Times, Flo Rida was named one of Celsius Energy Drink’s “global ambassadors.” In 2020, the company generated $130 million in revenue, in part due to Flo Rida’s endorsement of the drink. But in May 2021, Flo Rida slapped the company with a lawsuit, claiming he wasn’t paid enough for his duties. While it’s unclear how much the rapper was getting paid, or how much he was looking for, it’s clear that whatever he got wasn’t enough.

“The rapper filed a lawsuit against Celsius in Broward County circuit court last week, demanding the allegedly unpaid compensation under two endorsement contracts,” reports the outlet. “According to the court documents, Dillard has not received full payment despite having “launched a new era for Celsius brand development, growth and expansion.”

In January 2020, Flo Rida opened up a distillery in Broward County, which makes his own brand of vodka. AfroTech previously reported he partnered with Victor George Spirits to develop the Old Sistrunk Distillery, a 13,000-square-foot complex located near Fort Lauderdale, FL. While the complex was originally slated to open in late 2020 or early 2021, it goes without saying that the pandemic pushed everything back. It’s unclear when, or if, the Old Sistrunk Distillery will be opening up.
