Pure gratitude can open up a shower of blessings, and this recent viral moment is a testament to that.
Kevin Ford's Viral Story
Kevin Ford, a longtime employee at Las Vegas McCarran International Airport’s Burger King, went viral after he was given a goodie bag for never missing work for 27 years. The video shows the 54-year-old received a bag filled with a movie ticket, candy, a Starbucks cup, a lanyard, two pens, and two keychains for his service.
Although the goodie bag didn’t measure up to his hard work as a cook and cashier for Burger King, he showed how genuinely thankful he was for it.
The Heartwarming Support
What many on social media took as the “reward” being an insult to Ford transformed into a GoFundMe for his supporters to show what a true gift for such loyalty looks like. The fund started as a way for one of his daughters to help him purchase a $200 ticket to visit family he hadn’t been able to see in a while. Now, it has reached over $212,000 and continues to grow.
“I just can’t believe this. Thank you, thank you everybody,” he expressed during a TODAY interview alongside his family. “I just want to tell everybody out there, ‘Thank you for every cent.’ Just the thought of watching the video and just having a reason to smile. I want to thank everybody.”
He continued: “There’s been donations from Australia, the U.K. — all around the world. I just want to say, ‘Thank you’ to everybody. It’s just a dream come true. It’s just a whirlwind of love. Spread the love, cause every day you need it.”
Future Plans For The Fund
According to an interview with NewsNation’s Brian Entin, the single father of four plans to put the donated money toward his grandkids’ future college tuition.
So awesome talking to Kevin Ford.
After working at Burger King for 27 years – without missing one day of work – they gave him a candy goody bag.
But the internet wasn’t happy about that – and has raised $141,000 so far. He says he’ll use the money for his grandkids college. pic.twitter.com/iV4cCgHbTN— Brian Entin (@BrianEntin) June 26, 2022
