Twitch, the social streaming platform for video games, just hired its first-ever head of diversity and inclusion in a round of C-level executive hires that included a new chief financial officer and chief human resources officer.
Katrina Jones begins her new role on October 1 as the head of diversity and inclusion with 10 years of experience in human resources.
Before joining the Amazon-owned company, Jones held a similar role at Vimeo where she created the company’s first-ever diversity strategy to mitigate bias and encourage inclusion in the workplace. Prior to Vimeo, she held positions as the diversity and inclusion lead at Accenture and human resources manager at the job training organization Year Up.
Twitch also hired Sudarshana Rangachary as chief human resources officer, who Jones will report to, and Michelle Weaver as the chief financial officer.
The addition of three new female executives makes Twitch’s chief executive’s majority women.
A report from the Ascend Foundation published last year found that between 2007 and 2015 there has been a 13 percent decrease in the number of black women in tech roles.
Even fewer women of color are promoted to managerial and executive positions.
