Students attending LeBron James’ I Promise School are ending the year on a high note.
Based on multiple social media posts, King James stopped by the Akron, OH school recently, and, to no surprise, there were happy faces and tears of joy as result of the visit.

Statement From LeBron James
“Appreciate y’all letting me crash your last day of school @ipromiseschool!! Love you all and have a fun and safe Summer. Don’t forget what we talked about. #WeAreFamily,” LeBron James wrote on Instagram.
Crash Course On I Promise School
As AfroTech previously told you, the I Promise School was created by King James and his foundation in 2018. The I Promise School aims to provide academically at-risk children and young adults a learning environment coupled with educational initiatives to excel.
“I walked those streets, and it was just like there’s no way I’m going to be able to get out of this situation,” James said previously in an interview with USA Today. “I just thought about that every day. I had dreams and I had mentors, and they allowed my dreams to become who I am today. People can talk about everything else besides that, but they can never take away what I’m able to do for my hometown and people all around the world. That’s what means to me more than anything. The basketball thing, I love it and I enjoy it, but to give back and open up a school, that’s something that will last way beyond my years.”
The Promise
In addition to making quality education accessible to students, LeBron James furthered his efforts by announcing students who meet specific requirements will have an opportunity to secure a full scholarship to the University of Akron, Business Insider reports. The I Promise program plans to give away an estimated 2,300 scholarships.
