In the wake of her history making win over Serena Williams, Osaka is set to ink a deal with Adidas that could bring in $8.5 million per year, the most the apparel giant has ever paid a female tennis player. Osaka became the first Japanese player to win a Gram Slam title after her testy US Open win over Serena Williams last week and took home a $3.8 million grand prize, which was the largest payout in U.S Open history . Osaka’s current four-year Adidas deal, which pays somewhere in the low six-figures , is set to end at the end of the year. The 20-year-old champ recently signed a three-year endorsement deal with Nissan, according to Business Insider, and is now on the fast track to becoming one of the wealthiest athletes in the world. Some of Osaka’s other endorsement deals include Nissin Foods, Citizen Watch Co. and Tokyo television station Wowow Inc.
