Why Cameron Johnson Built Nickson, The 'Uber Of Furniture' That Does All The Work So You Won't Have To

Cameron Johnson remembers being stationed every few years during early childhood. Therefore, he understands the stresses and challenges that come with new beginnings firsthand. He eventually learned how to make any new place feel like home. Now, Johnson wants to alleviate the pressures of a fresh start through Nickson. Founded in 2017, the “Uber of furniture” does all the work so you don’t have to. Courtesy of Nickson “The idea was to help people and empower their fresh start. Life is hard and a place to call home should be easy, so that has been our ethos since day one,” Johnson told AfroTech exclusively.

Dallas-based startup Nickson wins $100,000 investment from Rise of the Rest Seed Fund

The Rise of the Rest Road Trip with Steve Case is on its seventh tour, this time hitting Dallas, Memphis, Birmingham, Chattanooga and Louisville. On Monday night, Dallas-based startup Nickson won a $100,000 investment. According to Steve Case via the Dallas Business Journal , Texas companies get about 2 percent of the share of U.S. venture investments. The Rise of the Rest Road Trip brings awareness to the heaps of potential that lie within cities such as Dallas. Nickson competed with seven other companies who pitched before the panel, but ultimately their service of designing and installing furnishings and decor to apartments was the winner. The service is great for anyone who wants to take the stress out of decorating their own place. Now they can leave that task up to Nickson and pay a monthly fee for the furnishings and decor during the length of their lease. The service is disrupting the real estate space — a $217 trillion dollar industry . Check out Nickson here .
