Jemele Hill Launches Podcast Network With Spotify Focused On Uplifting The Voices Of Black Women

A new podcast network dedicated to elevating the voices and stories of Black women is underway! Jemele Hill will launch The Unbotherd Network, a podcast network exclusive to Spotify that will focus on championing Black women. The name derives from Hill’s smash podcast, “Jemel Hill Is Unbothered,” which just announced a season three renewal on Tuesday (June 22). According to The Hollywood Reporter , The Unbothered Network will release original content that Hill, her production company, Lodge Freeway Media, and Spotify will come up with and release. “The Unbothered Network is more than just a content hub, it’s a space where Black women can hopefully see their full selves,” said Hill in a statement. “There’s so much about the lives of Black women that haven’t been fully explored, and so many of our stories have either been dismissed or overlooked. Jemele Hill Partners With Spotify to Develop Podcast Network to Uplift Black Women in the Digital Diaspora

Former sports commentator Jemele Hill left her dream job at ESPN to build up a one-woman media empire. Now she’s making room for other Black women to get their foot in the door. Last week, Bloomberg shared that Hill has now partnered with Spotify to create a podcast network for her own show, “Jemele Hill Is Unbothered,” and will also be joined by a slew of other shows all hosted by Black women. In a recent interview with the outlet , Hill shared moments of her journey as a podcaster and television personality, as well as future plans for her rising media enterprise. “We were just testing the market, me and my manager Evan Dick, seeing what interest was there, who was serious and who wasn’t,” she said in regards to how her new podcast came about. “I had a podcast at ESPN that turned into a TV show. Colin Kaepernick Inks Partnership Deal With Disney

On the heels of his appointment to Medium’s Board of Directors, Colin Kaepernick announced a first-look deal with Disney on Monday (July 6). “I am excited for this partnership with Disney across all of its platforms to elevate Black and Brown directors, creators, storytellers & producers,” he tweeted . “I look forward to sharing culturally impactful and inspiring projects” According to Variety, the partnership between Kaepernick’s Ra Vision production company and Walt Disney will “emphasize scripted and unscripted stories that deal with race, social injustice and the quest for equity.” In addition, the deal will include a docuseries by ESPN films chronicling Kaepernick’s transition from San Francisco 49ers quarterback to activist.
