Chris Paul has shared an exciting update about one of his investments.
According to its LinkedIn page, the former NBA star is an investor in PlayersTV, the first athlete-owned media network and content provider. As previously reported by AFROTECH™, the network was launched in 2020 by Deron Guidrey and Collin Castellaw. PlayersTV offers athletes the opportunity to hold a stake in the company, with many also owning production companies. Notable athlete investors include Travis Kelce, Dwyane Wade, and Damian Lillard.
“Dwyane Wade, Chris Paul, and Damian Lillard are just a few of the 50+ athletes on PlayersTV’s roster. All of our athletes each have their own production companies and unique content they want to share with their fans,” Guidrey previously told AFROTECH™. “PlayersTV unlocks this opportunity and enables them to share their content in an authentic and meaningful way. By partnering with PlayersTV, these athletes are able to connect with their fans on a larger scale through engaging content.”
PlayersTV supports over 100 athletes, creators, and partners who contribute to its content portfolio, featuring comedy, reality shows, documentaries, podcasts, and movies, as listed on its LinkedIn.
In its most recent update, PlayersTV announced plans to leverage artificial intelligence (AI) to influence how content is created, distributed, and monetized, notes Forbes. This is a result of its acquisition of Cloud Media Center.
PlayersTV has also gained access to more than 1 billion advertising impressions.
“Exciting times ahead with PlayersTV! As a proud investor, I’m thrilled about our acquisition of Cloud Media Center. This game-changing move combines athlete-driven content with cutting-edge AI technology, setting a new standard in sports media,” Paul wrote on LinkedIn. “Together, we’re crafting a platform where athletes have the power to tell their stories and connect with fans worldwide. Excited for what’s to come!”
Guidrey told Forbes:
“This acquisition is a game-changer for both PlayersTV and the future of athlete-driven media. With Cloud Media Center’s AI technology at the core of our operations, we’re able to provide a more tailored, scalable, and impactful experience for both athletes and advertisers. This partnership enables us to expand our reach and ensure that athletes have the tools to tell their stories, connect with their fans, and ultimately drive new opportunities for themselves and the brands they represent.”
