Meyers’ new role will focus on diversity and inclusion within the company

Netflix is expanding its executive team to focus on diversity and inclusion.

The streaming giant has tapped Vernā Myers to serve as it’s new Vice President For Inclusion Strategy, a position they’ve just created.

Myers recently worked at her own company, Vernā Myers Co., where she was advising corporations and organizations regarding ethnicity, gender, race, sexual orientation and more topics of inclusion.

“I am so excited and look forward to collaborating all across Netflix to establish bold innovative frameworks and practices that will attract, fully develop, and sustain high performing diverse teams,” said Myers.

In the new role, Myers will help create and execute plans and strategies that will prioritize diversity and inclusion in all parts of Netflix’s global operations. She has consulted for Netflix in the past, so her taking on this role should be a smooth transition.

“As a global company dedicated to attracting the best people and representing a broad range of perspectives, Vernā will be an invaluable champion of our efforts to build a culture where all employees thrive,” Netflix Chief Talent Officer Jessica Neal said in a statement.

The new appointment comes after Netflix fired it’s chief communications officer earlier this summer for using a racial slur multiple times in the workplace.
