Shareef O’Neal is doing right by his family name.
In a recent report released by Boardroom, the oldest of Shaq’s biological children has been named to Linktree’s inaugural class of collegiate athlete partners.
Shareef O’Neal, who plays the forward position for Louisiana State University’s basketball team, joins four other star athletes such as Alana Walker, a volleyball player at the University of Virginia; Margzetta Frazier, a gymnast at UCLA and World Cup series silver medalist; Masai Russell, a track and field athlete, and Second Team All-American; and Grant Horvat, a Palm Beach Atlantic golfer and All-American scholar. The partnership includes sports offerings and resources to aid college athletes in fully utilizing their name, image, and likeness (NIL) rights.
“We are so proud to have Margzetta, Grant, Shareef, Masai, and Alana join #teamlinktree,” said Anthony Zaccaria, Linktree co-founder, and Chief Commercial Officer, in an official statement to the outlet. “All five athletes bring authenticity and athletic prowess to the table, and we are so pleased that they all have chosen Linktree as the way to share their stories. These partnerships are just the beginning and we can’t wait to see what Margzetta, Grant, Shareef, Masai, and Alana create and where their passions – athletic or otherwise – take them.”
This is just the latest bit of good news from Shareef O’Neal. As AfroTech previously reported, he recently signed a NIL deal with crypto startup, NFT Genius.
“I see NFTs as an innovative medium to bring fans along my life’s journey — to join me and my family through our own successes and struggles and bring awareness to causes that are important to me,” said Shareef O’Neal, according to Forbes. “We want to reward everyone who secures my first NFTs that will reflect those things I am most passionate about — basketball, music, and giving back. We have a lot of surprises in store including winning signed memorabilia, free airdrops, and access to some cool experiences with me and my family.”

Shaquille O’Neal may have made business moves that garnered him a $400 million net worth. But that doesn’t mean his kids will automatically be given the keys to the proverbial kingdom.
In an interview, Shaq said that he is making his children work hard for their money — and has no problem telling them that just because he’s rich, doesn’t mean they’re rich.
“My kids are older now. They kinda upset with me. Not really upset, but they don’t understand,” he said to The New York Post. “I tell them all the time. We ain’t rich. I’m rich.”
