The conversation around who could possibly battle Jay-Z on Triller’s Verzuz —  an online series created by producers Timbaland and Swizz Beatz — has been circulating around since the platform first began. Kodak Black has recently announced that he believes he’s the promising contender for the heavyweight Hip-Hop mogul.

Kodak Black's Battle Terms

With such a bold move also comes risky decisions, which Kodak Black made clear on social media.

“I’ll do a versus wit Jay Z,” he wrote via Twitter. “‘IF’ he win he get 15% of my catalog! I win he make me Vice President of roc nation.”

Social Media's Reactions

Following Kodak Black’s big moment of confidence, Twitter started to weigh in with their thoughts. The majority of users were confused about him asking for a matchup.

On the other side of the debate stood his loyal fans, who backed him up in that he could possibly win the battle. Some even went as far as putting him in the same category as some of Hip-Hop’s greatest.

Verzuz co-founder Timbaland also entered the online discussion by posting laughing emojis on DJ Akademiks’ Instagram post.

Is Jay-Z Unbeatable?

Names in the rap game such as Lil Wayne, Drake, Jadakiss, and Kanye West continue to circulate when discussing who can go up against arguably the greatest rapper of all time.

Jay-Z himself heavily doubts that there’s anyone that can measure up to his music catalog. In December 2021, he joined Alicia Keys on Twitter Spaces and set the record straight.

“It’s not a chance in hell that anyone can stand on that stage with me,” he said. “You got to stand in front of the ‘Grammy Family Freestyle’ live? No one has ever even seen me perform that, you got to stand in front of that? That ain’t never going to happen.”

While the question remains if Jay-Z will ever join a Verzuz battle, the platform is always full of surprises, and time will tell if a legendary showdown will take place in the near future.
