Kevin Durant has struck gold overseas.
Olympic Victory
The athlete is fresh off a USA Basketball Men’s National Team victory at the 2024 Olympics, taking home a gold medal alongside teammates, including LeBron James and Stephen Curry, and leading against France in a 98-87 upset, according to USA Today.
Durant now has four Olympic gold medals, according to his Team USA profile.
“My goal every time I put this jersey on was to represent my country, my state, my street, my family name, and it help put the game forward,” Durant said, per USA Today. “And since I’ve been here, we’ve done that. We built off the Dream Team in ’92, and we carried that torch and that was the main goal.”
Investing In Paris Saint-Germain
Besides focusing on the victory lap on the court, Durant also looked to do the same in the business world through his sports, media, and entertainment company Boardroom, which he founded in 2019 alongside his business partner Rich Kleiman.
Boardroom notes Durant carved out time in August 2024 to become more familiar with France’s soccer club Paris Saint-Germain, visiting its president, Nasser Al-Khelaifi, with Kleiman and making a pit stop at its training facility and education center.
“They witnessed first-hand how the Club’s values of innovation and excellence are embodied in this new environment, where Paris Saint-Germain is nurturing the stars of tomorrow,” Boardroom mentioned on X.
Durant and Kleiman also connected with Paris Saint-Germain’s team players and grew a liking towards the women’s and youth teams.
Now an ownership commitment has been announced. A statement released on Durant’s Instagram states he is now an investor in Paris Saint-Germain through Boardroom Sports Holdings, LLC. He purchased stake through Arctos Sports Partners. According to The Athletic, Arctos, also based in the United States, acquired a 12.5% stake in the club in late 2023, when the team’s valuation reached $4.6 billion.
Durant’s role as an investor is expected to benefit Paris Saint-Germain by enhancing its marketing and sponsorships in the United States in light of the 2025 Club World Cup and the 2026 World Cup being hosted in the U.S., per ESPN.
