J. Cole is continuing to add to his list of accomplishments.

In a tweet, NBA 2K introduced the rapper as its NBA 2K23 DREAMER Edition Cover Athlete. And, although he’s had quite the accomplishments already, it seems J. Cole was still in disbelief after the announcement.

NBA 2K23 DREAMER Edition

According to an official press release, the NBA 2K23 DREAMER Edition will release on Sept, 9 and it will be the franchise’s most ambitious storyline yet with the help of unexpected characters and cameos from Dreamville musicians Elite, Bas, and J. Cole, who can be found in the MyCAREER feature.

“NBA 2K has long been a place to discover new musical talent through their game and continues to be a gold standard for showcasing all things basketball culture,” J. Cole said, according to a press release. “It’s been an amazing journey to not only appear on a cover of this year’s game, but to be part of the MyCAREER storyline, soundtrack and bring the Dreamer brand into NBA 2K.”

The Soundtrack

J. Cole will also be bringing his musical talents to the NBA 2K23 soundtrack that will feature a plethora of artists including 21 Savage, Lil Baby, Drake, Megan Thee Stallion, and Polo G.

Players can look forward to new tracks dropping every Friday coupled with “record label partnerships and integrations throughout seasons.”

“The sheer scale, depth and talent featured in this year’s MyCAREER creates an unparalleled experience within NBA 2K23,” said Alfie Brody, Vice President of Global Marketing Strategy at NBA 2K, according to a press release. “At the top of that list of talent is our first cover star who truly sits at the intersection of basketball and music. Bringing a visionary like J. Cole and DREAMER into the creative process for both the game and the soundtrack showcases the pillar of culture that NBA 2K23 has become.”
