EBONY Media Group has appointed a new CEO.

In a press release, the company has announced that Eden Bridgeman Sklenar will officially step into the role as the brand’s Chief Executive Officer.

Toting more than 15 years of senior management experience across several brands, Sklenar aims to add her expertise to help rebuild the iconic brand, which brought us cultural staples like the EBONY and JET magazines.

“I am ecstatic to fully embrace the EBONY and JET brands, and to work even more collaboratively with our exceptional senior leadership as we revive and rebuild these iconic brands that have been a staple in our community and culture,” she shared in an official statement around the news.

A Whole New World

As EBONY looks ahead to the future, the brand plans to bring its creativity to the digital landscape — a world that is much different than what they are used to, having dominated print journalism for so long.

“For years, the traditional EBONY platform was rooted in magazine publishing, but we recognize in today’s world of media there are broader opportunities for our brand to connect with the culture while elevating EBONY Media Group’s global presence and influence,” said Sklenar. “Our growth strategy is fueled by culture, data, innovative ideas and relentless execution. Our new platforms are just the beginning of how we intend to reimagine a timeless brand that continues to reign supreme as the most influential Black-owned media company to the culture and to the world.”

Bringing That Secret Sauce

Through their collective mission to “Move Black Forward,” the company believes that Sklenar’s previous background in marketing with Manna, Inc. will provide just the right recipe for the success they are looking to achieve.

When she wasn’t helping to lead her former employers to greater heights, Sklenar also served across several boards including the Speed Museum, the Kentucky Derby Museum, Louisville Ballet, and more.
