Rapper and entrepreneur A$AP Rocky is paying it forward.
According to a press release, he will support a first-time freshman student at the Roc Nation School of Music, Sports & Entertainment at Long Island University (LIU) with a four-year scholarship.
As AFROTECH™ previously reported, the school thrives to be “a globally renowned destination for world-class education, exceptional career development, cultural initiatives, and philanthropic endeavors” and ensures that 25% of its students attend tuition-free.
Students will be prepared for careers in entrepreneurship, music, sports business, management, performance, and more. Alumni have gone on to work at Roc Nation, 508 Productions, and Vevo, while current and former students have landed opportunities with Universal Music Publishing Group, Interscope Records, iHeartMedia, Live Nation, SiriusXM, and Sugar Mountain Records, among others, according to another press release.
A$AP Rocky’s scholarship will give recipients additional access to the music industry, including direct guidance from top music professionals and an opportunity to learn inside the school’s Pro Dolby Atmos studio. According to information shared on Instagram, the scholarship recipient will also be automatically accepted into the school’s exclusive academic and mentorship program.
“I’m a big believer in creating your own lane and giving people the opportunity to do the same,” said A$AP Rocky in the press release. “There are so many talented young people with ideas, ambition, and something important to say. This scholarship is about helping one of them turn that vision into something real.”
To apply, students must be enrolled in the school as a first-time freshman for Fall 2027. Students must also complete a written essay or submit a video explaining what drives them to pursue a career in sports, music, or entertainment at the school.
Those interested can apply for the scholarship at Apply.liu.edu/rn.
Applications close Dec. 15.
