There’s been a long-running debate in society on whether money brings happiness. Based on an interview with Wallo267, it’s apparent that he’s on the opposing side.
As AfroTech previously told you, Wallo267 and Gillie Da Kid inked a new contract with Barstool Sports for their podcast “Million Dollaz Worth of Game” in 2022.
The extension came after signing in 2020, which was reportedly worth $3 million in exchange for a 50% ownership stake in the show.
In the video announcement posted in 2022, Wallo267 and Gillie Da Kid looked to be emotional about the deal. However, during an interview with Ebro Darden on Apple Music 1, he revealed how he felt following their initial deal with the sports and culture company.
“I was a little disappointed because for the first time in my life, I got this large amount of money, ain’t nothing go away,” Wallo267 explained to Ebro Darden. “I thought when you get rich, everything go away. They said when you get money, growing up in the ghetto, everything going to be cool, everything going to be great. And I’m like, everything is still there.”
Prior to his successful podcast, Wallo267 served 20 years in prison, as previously shared by AfroTech. In addition, he faced the passing of his brother.
Although he has found financial stability, he emphasized that it didn’t give him total fulfillment as he had once believed it would.
He continued, “It’s cool that I could take care of my family. I could buy little stuff. But after you buy those things, after you look out for people, after you do whatever you do, you still got to deal with everything you done been through in life and don’t nothing get erased.”
While Wallo267 isn’t hyper-focused on his earnings, they have continued to roll in. When Charlamagne Tha God appeared on he and Gillie Da Kid’s podcast, he claimed that they were the highest-paid Black podcasters in the industry.
