Whoopi Goldberg is investing in the culture. Variety reports the EGOT winner (Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony Awards) has become an equity investor in Blkfam, a family-focused streaming platform that “entertains, educates and celebrates Black American family-friendly content.” Larry Adams, founder of the streaming service, pushed forward with the venture after seeing “a ton of R-rated content” from popular streaming services when looking for Black programming for his family. “Black culture and content is so often stereotyped, siloed or written off, so I wanted to create a platform where my kids and I can be entertained without having to face those same daily biases,” Adams told Variety. “By curating authentic content — proven through data and AI — primarily from Black storytellers, we’ve built a service reflecting true inclusion and diversity, where Black parents and children especially can feel holistically represented.” In 2023, Adams reached out to Goldberg to gauge her interest in...
Whoopi Goldberg is shutting down the sentiment that a college education is required to be successful. During the Hot Topics segment on “The View,” the actress and her co-host Sunny Hostin had a brief exchange surrounding the topic. The discussion was sparked from a Reddit post, where a mother refused to give her daughter the college fund she saved for her because she wanted to instead use it on a home or wedding as she prepares to welcome her third child.

Before she became a daytime talk show host, Whoopi Goldberg was one of the few actresses to become a coveted EGOT winner. Goldberg has taken home all of the industry’s coveted awards — and was, in fact, the first Black woman to do so, according to Vulture. In addition, Goldberg was the first Black actress to receive Oscar nominations for both Best Actress (which she did for “The Color Purple,” though she didn’t win) and Best Supporting Actress (which she did for “Ghost,” and ultimately took home the trophy). She’s also one of only three women performers to take home the Grammy for Best Comedy Record and was the first Black woman to take home the Mark Twain prize for humor (which she did in 2001, per Vulture). In short, Whoopi Goldberg has had a career filled with “firsts,” and it’s no wonder, then, that she’s earned a $60 million net worth (per Celebrity Net Worth)...
