A new vegan eatery in Tallahassee, FL was created by a trio of young Black sisters. Bourne Brilliant offers everything from house-made baked goods like cookies, cupcakes, and bread, along with fresh fruit juices, herbal teas, and preserves. Sisters Lyrica (13), Zaira (12), and Nadira (9) Leo launched their food business several years ago by selling their food at local farmers’ markets, festivals, and events. Supported by their parents Jahlion and Syrheda La Shae Leo, along with Tallahassee chef Shacafrica Simmons, the sisters were able to realize what skillsets they bring to the table individually to successfully operate a business together.
