Google Appoints Halimah DeLaine Prado as New General Counsel

Google just named lawyer, Halimah DeLaine Prado, as its new general counsel , according to Fortune. Prado, a 14-year veteran of the company, previously ran Google’s product legal team. In her new position, Prado will report to Kent Walker, Google’s SVP of global affairs who has played a vital role in guiding the company’s legal and political response to the numerous challenges it currently faces. “Google has been my home for nearly 14 years, allowing me to work on some of the most complex and important legal issues of the digital age with a world-class legal team,” Prado said. Her latest role comes at a critical time for the company as complaints from employees allege that the search giant has failed to take allegations of sexism and racism within the company seriously.
