According to The Philadelphia Inquirer, “‘By definition, that makes it the most authentic superior sonic account of the song.'” Not only that but owning one’s masters can be the stepping stone to creating wealth for future generations, thanks to royalties earned each time a song is played or duplicated. Inside The Scam That Used Chance The Rapper's Name To Defraud People Out Of Thousands Of Dollars

In 2016, Spike Lee called Chance the Rapper a fraud, according to XXL Magazine . Today, there’s someone out there that uses his name — and there’s no question that it’s a fraud. A new report released by CBS News revealed that a Chicago-area man has been using the rapper’s name to defraud unsuspecting women out of tens of thousands of dollars. The man, who is going by the pseudonym Jeffrey Washington, has been claiming that he’s working with CEDA (Community and Economic Development Association), together with Chance the Rapper, to help people “pay off financial obligations.” These financial obligations include mortgages, utility bills, and car insurance. But there’s just one problem with the scam: CEDA doesn’t cover what the scammer claims it covers. Instead, according to its official website, CEDA provides “heating and cooling assistance” to low-income residents of Chicago. And while the not-for-profit doesn’t provide mortgage assistance, it does provide assistance with affordable...

Rapper G Herbo continues to show love and give back to the city that raised him. In 2018, the Chicago-native purchased the building of his former school, Overton Elementary School, according to an Instagram post. Then, in 2013, Trading-U reports the elementary school was shut down, as part of a wave of public school closings. Thankfully, Herbo joined a project that helped turn it into a youth center, also serving as a music incubator and media lab for the kids. As he’s no stranger to helping his community, Herbo has even launched “Swervin’ Through Stress: Tools to Help Black Youth Navigate Mental Wellness.” His aim is to provide therapeutic resources for young adults who have experienced trauma and to raise public awareness about mental health issues. This past Saturday (Sept. 19), Herbo joined fellow Chicago rappers Vic Mensa and Chance The Rapper to do a peace walk with the kids along with a back-to-school drive. They gave away free shoes along with school supplies. Attendees were...
