Stephen Curry fans are continuing to go up for his collectibles.
ABC News reports that one of the NBA star’s jerseys worn during the championship series has sold for a high price.
The Collectible
The auctioned jersey was from the NBA Finals Game 1, where Curry broke the record for the most three-pointers during one quarter in an NBA Finals game. In a 101-bid war on NBA Auctions, the one-of-one jersey sold for $203,330.
According to the outlet, previously a Curry jersey worn in Game 1 of the 2016 NBA Finals sold for $343,200 with buyer’s premium.
2009 Stephen Curry Rookie Card
Just last month, a rare autographed 2009 Stephen Curry rookie card was expected to fetch over $500,000 in an auction on the PWCC Marketplace, as previously reported by AfroTech.
“The single greatest investment collectors can make in a modern NBA player is their RPA,” the PWCC Auctions said, describing the rookie patch autograph card. “Given the reputation of National Treasures, this multicolor patch and deeply struck auto, and Steph’s sterling reputation on and off the court, this card presents an exciting opportunity to own a premier card of one of the NBA’s active legends.”
The auction occurred during the NBA showdown between the Golden State Warriors and the Boston Celtics, which is likely a reason the rookie card went for that much.
Kobe Bryant's Game-Worn Jersey
What’s more, another special NBA jersey was auctioned in June 2022.
A Kobe Bryant-game-worn jersey sold for $2.73 million at SCP Auctions — making it the first jersey from a playoff appearance to publicly go up for sale — per a previous AfroTech report.
Additionally, the rare jersey’s authenticity was verified and photo-matched by independent authenticators. The Los Angeles Lakers memorabilia is also said to have been worn by Bryant at least five times including his 1997 playoff appearance against the Utah Jazz during the West Conference semifinals.
