A new Pew survey found nearly half of all young Americans have deleted the Facebook app from their phones in the last year. This comes amid Cambridge Analytica collecting user data on tens of millions of Facebook users without their knowledge.

Facebook users ages 18 to 29 are more likely to say they have deleted the app from their phone in the last year. Older users are less likely to have adjusted their privacy settings in the past year.

The Pew surveyed over 4,500 participants between May and June 2018. Results showed 26 percent of overall users say they have deleted the Facebook app and 42 percent reported taking a break from checking the platform for several weeks or more.

In 2016, Cambridge Analytica, a political data firm, collected the private data of over 50 million Facebook users, from which the social media company has drawn much scrutiny.
