Miami Art Week and Art Basel events take place Dec. 2 through 4 this year, and the annual celebrations will include some NFT (non-fungible token) exhibits.
As AfroTech previously reported, NFTs can be anything that has been digitally authenticated, from music to art to gifs and beyond. Hence, it only makes sense to see them during Miami Art Week and Art Basel. Suppose you’re looking to brush up on your knowledge of the growing NFT industry ahead of the art week events. In that case, NFT BZL is hosting a day-long symposium featuring NFT experts on Nov. 30 to educate attendees on digital art.
Here are some NFT exhibitions we think you should check out during the annual art week.
The Wynwood Studios NFT Art Party Exhibition
This four-day popup experience will run from Dec. 1 to 4 and feature NFT art exhibitions, nightly NFT drops, physical art and musical performances. FTX, a US-regulated cryptocurrency exchange platform, is hosting Wynwood Studios. Each night, FTX will run elusive sales of NFTs on its newly launched marketplace.
Hall of Visions and Hatch by Pilar Zeta
Faena Art, a nonprofit that commissions and produces cross-disciplinary artistic experiences, is commissioning emerging graphic designer Pilar Zeta to create a two-part installation on the beach. I won’t give away too much, but you’ll have to walk through the Hall of Visions environment to reach the Hatch exhibit. The installations’ digital component includes five short animation clips that will be auctioned off as NFTs on the Aorist, a new digital art platform and marketplace. Zeta’s exhibits will run from Nov. 29 to Dec. 5.
Decentral Eyes Dogg
Snoop Dogg is collaborating with Collide to feature his first NFT artwork with audio during Miami Art Week. The prominent West Coast rapper’s Decentral Eyes DoggNFT debuted on SuperRare and will be up for auction through Dec. 3.
Humans + Machines: NFTs and the Ever-Evolving World of Art
Art Basel is collaborating with open-source blockchain network Tezos to host this interactive NFT exhibition from Dec. 2 to 4. According to a press release, German artist Mario Klingemann designed an algorithm embedded into the exhibition space so visitors can digitally interact with the environment and create their own NFTs on-site.
SCOPE Miami Beach 2021
SCOPE, an experiential art fair held annually in Basel, New York and Miami, is celebrating its 20th anniversary by getting into the NFT game. The prominent art show producer is teaming up with prominent NFT marketplace YellowHeart to curate NFT minted artwork VIP tickets for its show in Miami Beach. These NFT tickets will feature unique editioned artwork celebrating SCOPE’s legacy. SCOPE Miami Beach will take place from Nov. 30 to Dec. 5 and feature 140 international art exhibitors.
