Former Danity Kane member Aubrey O’Day has broken her silence regarding Sean “Diddy” Combs’ announcement that he’ll be returning publishing rights to several artists that were previously under his Bad Boy Records imprint.

According to Complex, O’Day raised concerns about the specifics of the deal that would regain her the rights to the music she made as an artist under the music label during her tenure in the girl group Danity Kane.

Her Claims

“I have to release him for any claims or wrongdoings or actions prior to the date of the release,” O’Day said on an appearance on the “Only Stans” podcast while reading alleged agreement details from her phone. “I have to sign an NDA that I will never disparage Puff, Bad Boy, Janice Combs, Justin Combs Music, EMI, or Sony ever in public.”

What’s more, the singer claims that the deal would only bring her between $800 and $900 in royalties.

“This is just some measly streaming money in order to stay hushed on Puff,” O’Day said.

She added: “This is the honest-to-God agreement of what I’m being offered: a few hundred dollars to sign away my rights to ever tell the story of what I went through ever again.“

O’Day also claims she gave former group members, including Dawn Richard, D. Woods, Shannon Bex, and Aundrea Fimbres, a warning about the fine details of the recent agreement. However, it’s said that only two of the five Danity Kane members have withheld from signing the deal.

“At the end of the day, we’re all just willing to turn a blind eye,” she said. “Diddy is just literally known as a guy that doesn’t pay his artists, and it’s funny and then you move on and you like something that he did on TikTok ‘cause he’s funny. But for people that worked for six years of their life and entered an industry where somebody made, what, $48 million and we didn’t even see a penny of that? We were in thongs and five-inch heels for years of our lives on stage, and not any of it did we see.”

The Deal

As previously reported by AFROTECH, Diddy is said to have rejected a nine-figure deal for the entire Bad Boy Records portfolio, opting instead to return the publishing rights back to the label’s former artists.

Among the recipients are Danity Kane, 112, Faith Evans, The Notorious B.I.G. estate, plus songwriters who contributed to the platform over the years.

At this time, O’Day is the only artist to have come forward about the alleged specifics of the deal.
