It looks like Drake has found his lucky streak in online gambling once again.
After hitting multiple UFC betting losses back to back, the rapper has now come up on $1,000,000, USA Today reports.
UFC Betting Curse Comes To An End
On July 2, Drake was one of many who placed their bets in for the UFC 276 in Las Vegas — specifically the fight between Israel Adesanya and Jared Cannonier. The frequent gambler put $1 million on Adesanya, who was the betting favorite. In the showdown to defend his middleweight title, the Nigerian-born New Zealand kickboxer and mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter won in a unanimous decision — bringing Drake’s gambling curse to an end.
Before his win over the weekend, his recent losses include his bet in March of $275,000 on Jorge Masvidal to defeat Colby Covington at UFC 272 and $550,000 on Justin Gaethje to beat Charles Olveira at UFC 274 in May, per the outlet.
The Call Before The Win
Ahead of the anticipated fight, the outlet details that Drake had a brief chat with the champion over how much he put down and words of encouragement.
“Bro, I already know what time it is. You know, I put a light million up,” he said, according to the outlet. “A light mil. I had to put a light mil on my brother. Return on investment is a lock.”
He continued: “I just want to wish you good luck. You know I love you, brother. You’re different. You’re a different guy, bro. I have a deep, deep, deep love and respect for you. A deep love and respect.”
NCAA Loss
Drake has become known for frequently betting on sports games via the online gambling company Stake.
As reported by AfroTech, in April, the Toronto native disclosed that he placed a total of 100,000 CAD during the NCAA Final Four matchup between the Duke Blue Devils and North Carolina Tar Heels. Unfortunately, he bet on the losing team, which was the Blue Devils.
