Cordae is an artist who has been viewed by music listeners as ahead of his time. To place his futuristic persona on display aside from his music, the DMV rapper just made his entrance into the digital world.

Hypebeast reports that Cordae dropped his debut non-fungible token (NFT) collection, “IDENTITY,” on NFT marketplace OneOf. The collection is a collaboration between him and artist Shaylin Wallace, and its pre-sale sold out in less than a minute ahead of its main sale, which began on Feb. 22, according to the outlet.

The inspiration for Cordae’s new series stems from his nature of staying ahead of the curve by learning today’s innovations whenever embarking on new endeavors.

“I always like to just put my head into it and do research to learn more about it. In general, I like to think into the future. Learning and doing research, NFTs were definitely something that caught my interest,” Cordae shared.

"IDENTITY" Collection

The featured NFTs are based on what Cordae describes as his earlier style from his debut album, “The Lost Boy” — from his twists to his throwback clothing. The collection also includes his current “From a Birds Eye View” era’s fashion pieces, such as jackets and hoodies.

Affordable NFTs

To not break his fans’ pockets, Cordae prioritized affordable pricing — $55 USD.

“I’m not one of these people that’s trying to just come in and, you know, bleed out the community,” Cordae said. “The NFT space has its own ecosystem, its own community. To be a part of that is something that’s huge for me. To just enter into space with open arms.”

It’s a similar move to fellow artists such as Doja Cat, H.E.R., and John Legend, who joined OneOf to release their collections. As previously reported by AfroTech, the platform allows artists to create green-friendly and accessible NFTs.
