It’s a great moment in time for Chuck D.

The Public Enemy frontman recently sold a stake in his music catalog to his publisher, Reach Music.

The Deal Includes 300 Songs

Variety reports the deal includes over 300 songs such as hits “Fight the Power,” “Bring the Noise,” “Welcome to the Terrordome,” “Shut ‘Em Down,” and “He Got Game.”

Reach Music Publishing Acquired 50 Percent Copyright Interest, 100 percent Of The Writer's Shares

Chuck D was not only a founding member of the legendary Hip-Hop group Public Enemy, but he also wrote on many of their projects including their studio albums “Yo! Bum Rush the Show,” “It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back,” “Fear of a Black Planet,” and “Apocalypse 91…The Enemy Strikes Black.”

Fortunately, the frontrunner will also be receiving his dues for his songwriting through the acquisition. In fact, Reach Music Publishing has obtained 50 percent copyright interest in conjunction with 100 percent of the writer’s share — which includes the global administration rights in Public Enemy’s Chuck D’s song catalog, per the outlet.

Chuck D Gives His Thoughts On The Acquisition

“[Reach founder-president] Mike Closter and everyone at Reach have been handling my song catalog for well over 20 years, and doing this deal was the right timing for a forward and logical evolution of our business together in an ever-changing industry. Reach has always been ahead of the curve on establishing respect for the hip-hop genre songwriting and publishing-wise, and they will continue taking care of my works,” Chuck D shared with the outlet.

Mike Closter, Reach Founder-President, Shares A Statement:

“I’m so grateful to Chuck for our business together as his music publisher throughout these many decades. The team at Reach will continue working hard to protect these works while also introducing them to new generations to come,” Mike Closter, Reach founder-president said.
